Newborn

My in-home newborn sessions are very relaxed and take place in your home within the first few days or weeks after bringing your new arrival home.  These sessions focus not only on all the tiny delicious details of your baby, but also the space that you’ve perfectly designed for them and you all together as a family at the beginning of your journey.   These sessions have a lifestyle approach, which makes for a more natural and relaxed way to capture your family, showing your personality and connections that make you who you are.  See below for more on what to expect – or see pricing here.

What to Expect

Newborn sessions can last anywhere from 1-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeds, changes and soothing if required. My only rule is to go with the flow. Babies cry, spew and poo – no stress! We’ll just work around them (or toddler if you have one – they’re the boss!)

Although my style isn’t traditionally posed, I’ll still provide a little prompting so you won’t be left hanging and feeling awkward. We will work through some family photos, siblings shots, mum and baby, dad and baby and anything else you’d like to document during our time. A great way to capture some natural moments is to have an activity planned for while I’m there, such as giving baby a bath or reading a story. Prior to your session I’ll send you a guide including tips on what to wear and how to prepare.

Given the relaxed nature of these sessions, we can be more flexible with the baby’s age when you choose to book this session.  Any time from 1-6 weeks (or beyond if you like, they’re just less “newborn” – but every age is special)

Concerned about your house?

Don’t be. Your home is part of the story! Generally we’ll spend the session going between the baby’s room, living room/lounge and the master bedroom. It’s really up to you and where you like to spend your time (as long as there’s some natural light!); this could even be in the kitchen or outside in the backyard. Don’t stress too much about cleaning every room, a little tidying of bedside tables and living areas can help, but we’ll work with what you have and capture everything that tells your family’s story (and we can put anything you don’t want in the photos in a cupboard last minute if need be!)

Have questions or are you ready to book?

Get in touch. I’d love the opportunity to chat about how we can create some relaxed photos of your newborn and all of you together as a family.
